No Room for Compromise

I awoke this morning to Zach the Cat fast asleep at the foot of my bed. He was stretched out longways all nestled down in my comforter.
The sun was just starting to stream through my bedroom window, casting some of its first rays across my little writing desk and then onto my bed. A little bit of that new morning light illuminated the tips of Zach's ears.
In all of my hurry to get ready for another day, I paused to drink in the beauty and wonder of my tossed bed covers, of sunshine steadily brightening my darkened room, and of a snoozing cat absolutely secure in his home. Bending down, I patted his meaty haunches, kissed him behind his ears, and whispered what a good cat he is. That's when the purring began although he made no movement, not even cracking open an eye or clasping his paw. I smiled. My heart was full to overflowing with thankfulness, rejoicing, and love at that moment.
It's a nice way to start a day. So grateful to God for such gifts of grace and life.
